"No one defies the will of Odin."
Altana Burrows

Altana is the main character in Ilmarinen. She was born in this world but finds out at a young age that she has the ability to travel to Ilmarinen using just her thoughts. She does not know why or how it happens. As she finds herself in a strange world, she worries mostly about getting home. But it all becomes more complicated when she finds out that the people of Ilmarinen believe her to be the woman of a prophecy foretold long ago.
Altana is a bit of a brat. She is blunt and has no trouble speaking her mind even if it hurts someone. She is also very opinionated and stubborn.
She finds out that she can wield a special bow with a lapis lazuli adorned on the top. She is the only person in all of Ilmarinen that can use it.

Garrick Beltane
Garrick is a poor begotten. He lives with his sister in a small town on Ancelote Island. Their mother was drowned by paladins for being a healer. Garrick continues to practice healing, although it is against the law. He knows what plants and stones heal what ailments better than anyone else in Ilmarinen.
Garrick wears a sleeveless hooded tunic with leather vambraces. He wields two scimitars and has enough skills to best even the most strongest paladin. His eyes are black, and he has unnatural speed, strength, and heightened senses.
Garrick is a grump. It seems he is always angry. He keeps to himself and is usually quiet, unless Altana gets him mad and they begin to argue.
Garrick doesn't care about the prophecy, but he finds himself wrapped up in it anyway.

Adalard Bardolph
Copyright Elisa Ferguson
Adalard is the son of King Scion Walfred Bardolph who rules over Ellery Island. This makes Adalard a prince and heir to the throne. He is also a paladin of Ellery Island and is well trained with his claymore, having studied since he was a child.
Adalard's claymore is made from orange garnet. The stone enhances physical energy and makes him more willing to take risks. He wears the uniform of Ellery Island that is black and white with the symbol of a white dragon and a tornado on the chest.
Adalard has all the traits of a typical knight. He is chivalrous to a fault. He always wants to do the right thing, as long as it follows the law. He's the type of guy that would help old ladies across the street and donate to the Salvation Army. He would fight a dragon to win his lady love.
The prophecy has nothing to do with Adalard, but he helps because he feels it is his duty and because he has feelings for Altana.

Neri
Copyright Sephtis
Neri is a Bastet. She is no more than four feet tall, has cat ears and a tail, and a bubbly personality that makes Garrick sick.
Bastets are protectors of the forests in Ilmarinen. Neri is the protector of Sadia forest, the same forest where the Yggdrasil tree grows.
Don't let her small size and happy-go-lucky personality fool you, because Neri kicks butt. The only way a Bastet can become the keeper of the forest is to beat all her sisters in battle. Neri wields an axe with the agility of a cat.
Neri has a small role in the prophecy. She leaves her post at Sadia forest to help save the world. She does it mostly because of her new friends. The more time she spends with the humans, the more she wishes she could become one.

Bisha
Bisha is a horse, but a really special horse. When Odin sent his dragons to destroy the lands only one creature survived. That creature was Bisha. He survived because he stood beside the Yggdrasil tree and received protection from the spirit of Ilmarinen inside the tree. The protection came with a price, though. Bisha, since he was the only creature alive when the world went from one island to many, is the only thing on the world that holds it all together as one.
Bisha can talk. It is said that he has a choir boy voice. He also has great speed. On his sides are markings that look like wings, but he can't fly.
Bisha meets Altana and knows exactly who she is and her purpose. They become fast friends with a very tight bond. He goes with Altana on her journey, but also ends up in danger himself because of his unique ability.
